Erewash Borough Council declared a nature emergency in 2023.
"Therefore, Council resolves to:· Declare a climate and ecological emergency joining other local authorities across the sector.· Support the creation of a cross-party working group. Both members and officers will work together to lead by example with the Lead Executive Member at the helm, to develop a comprehensive Climate Change Strategy that addresses council functions and implements appropriate monitoring and reporting mechanisms. · Seek to ensure that all strategic direction, budgets, and approaches to planning decisions are in line with a shift to net zero.· Support and work with relevant agencies, key stakeholders and wider partners towards making the entire borough net-zero carbon and climate resilient”."
